Remembering Eva

“You’re still here beside me every day
‘Cause I know you by heart…”

It’s rainy and cold outside and although I’ve got plenty of things to do I can’t pass on this one. Why is that? Simply because Eva Cassidy has one of the best voices ever and because songs like I know you by heart or Autumn Leaves or Fields of Gold or Tall Trees in Georgia are sublime when sung by her and because she was the only person who could sing What a Wonderful World and leave you the same impression as old Louis Armstrong did- and because although she left us too early, she is born again and again- reminding us that we’ re alive- every single time we listen to her. And for 10,000 other reasons, one of them being that sometimes we can afford to get sentimental and… this is one of those days.

“Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves start to fall….”
